Microsoft offers free music downloads

Microsoft has announced an agreement with record label Epic to offer exclusive artist content and high-definition music video downloads free for all Xbox360 users for a year, showcasing 12 ‘new’ artists through the Artist of the Month (AOM) program via the Xbox Live service. First up is Brit singer-songwriter and sister of Daniel, Natasha Bedingfield.

Musically, it’s not particularly ground-breaking, but as a step into the downloads market – and one outside the traditional PC, it’s certainly a significant step.

Each month Microsoft and Epic will announce a new Artist of the Month along with exclusive benefits for Xbox360 users worldwide. As well as music downloads, additional content such as exclusive interviews with the featured artists, will be available for download.
