The lack of PS3 control isn't an oversight, it's unavoidable. The PS3 doesn't have an InfraRed interface, so traditional remotes won't work with it. The Sony PS3 remote is bluetooth.
You can use an IR remote, but you need a USB dongle. I feel the pain too after realising my Logitech Harmony wouldn't work with it.
