Apple iPod Touch under fire for dodgy screens, battery life

If you’ve been scanning the reports online, you might’ve heard the reports that the iPod Touch’s screen isn’t as good as the iPhone, contrary to expectations. Users have been complaining that it’s particularly noticeable when viewing dark photos or videos.

Well, it seems they weren’t making it up. Apple (via influential Wall Street Journal hack Walt Mossberg) has confirmed that some of the initial batch of iPod Touch devices DID have dodgy screens, and are working to sort the problem out.

NextBase Media 22: an iPod-docking hi-fi with built-in TV

NextBase has taken the wrappers off its new Media 22 Entertainment Centre, a one-box device that includes an iPod dock, DVD/CD player, 3.5-inch screen WITH an analogue TV tuner, an FM radio, and stereo speakers.

Don’t be thinking this is tinny sound that wouldn’t merit a medal at the gnat wind-breaking Olympics though. There are five drive units within the Media 22, with two treble drivers, two midrange units, and a subwoofer.

Opinion: HMV need more than gimmicks to attract kids to "cyber store"

Jon_small_new.jpgQuick quiz now – do you still buy CDs on the high street? I rarely do these days, unless it’s an impulse buy in a sale as I browse, but then I don’t get much time to do that either like I used to. Let’s face it, we’re a cash rich, time poor society now and that means one thing – the Internet!

I’m not going to spit out the obvious downloading facts and figures that we all already know, digital music is big business and only a miniscule percentage of people reading this will never have bought or “found” a music track via the web…
