The Sunnycam Activ 1080p cost £119

We first saw these recording sunglasses back at The Gadget Show in Birmingham in 2103 (see YouTube video here). Back then they were being marketed mainly as a kind of security product for doormen who might want to record any trouble outside of pubs or nightclubs etc.

Now you can buy the Sunnycam from Halfords. Capable of recording up to 1 hour of footage, both models are being marketed as cycling products for recording events on the road although there’s no reason why they couldn’t be used in other environments too, including for security purposes.

The sunglasses comes with interchangeable lenses, a rechargeable battery and vibrate to let you know when they are recording.

Two versions are available: the Sunnycam Activ for £119 (pictured above) and the Sunnycam Xtreme (pictured below) for £149.99. The main difference between the two models is that the Activ version comes with built in 16GB memory and records footage as .MOV files.

The cheaper Activ model doesn’t have built in storage (you have to buy your own SD card) and records in MP4.
