Proving it’s not just rappers who have their names associated with headphones, metal legends Iron Maiden have banged their ‘eds together with the guys at Japanese company Onkyo to bring you their latest collab with the password friendly name of Ed-Ph0n3s.

Earlier this year a visual mock-up of the headphones was displayed on Maiden’s iconic mascot “Eddie” at CES in Las Vegas (he’s the fella above who looks like he’s had a few rough nights without access to a toothbrush).

In the intervening months, Onkyo’s engineers have worked tirelessly with IRON MAIDEN’S founder member and bassist Steve Harris to fine-tune the product with production samples available exclusively at IFA in Berlin for attendees to physically touch, hold and test out the sound, using the brand new album by IRON MAIDEN The Book Of Souls. The headphones will be available to buy in time for Christmas.

Ed-Ph0n3s were used by Steve Harris in the mixing of The Book of Souls, released globally on September 4th. Steve had a working hand-built set for the mixing that Onkyo spent nine months to fully emulate and ensure top grade quality on the production line within clearly defined tolerances.
