Rosetta Stone language learning coming to… umm, Xbox One

How’s this for a slightly weird tie-up? The language learning software Rosetta Stone is apparently planning to launch an app for the Xbox One.

In a post on the company website, it says that “Rosetta Stone’s new application teaches English and Spanish by way of immersive simulation. Virtual travel experiences teach you the vocabulary and grammar necessary for real-world interactions.”

At the moment, it appears that the app will only teach Spanish – but presumably this will be expanded if it is successful.

Its certainly an interesting move. We’re presuming to make it properly fit in with the rest of the Xbox One’s games line-up, you’ll play the role of a 30 year old soldier on a mission to talk to foreigners before shooting them in the face.

  • What’s weird about it ? it’s no different to also having keep fit apps or news apps etc, in case you haven’t noticed people expect their consoles to do more then just play games nowadays.

    • Love this..cant wait to work with my kids on it. Love that xbox one is more than a gaming machine. Well done microsoft.
