Samsung has announced a new line of slimline laptops. According to a ropey Google translation of Samsung’s Korean website the “Creative Book 9″ is 11.8mm thin and weighs only 950g – both thinner and lighter than the MacBook Air.

The screen is 12.2” and runs at WQXGA (2560×1600) and inside there’s an Intel Core M 5Y10c processor, that will run up to 2ghz, as well as on board intel graphics, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. Intriguingly, there’s also an ultra power saving mode – which Samsung claims will squeeze a whole extra hour of usage out of your laptop when it is down to 10%. As you might expect, it runs Windows 8.1.

The big takeaway for us though is the looks on the machine: Why can’t Samsung make a phone that looks this good?
