No, you’re not going mad – it was only on Thursday that Sony announced the Xperia Z3 family of phones and tablets. But that doesn’t mean the gossip has stopped – even before that phone hits shelves rumours about the Z4 have started.
If you’ve ever wondered how the rumour mill works, this is it. A well known Sony leaker has suggested that the Xperia Z4 will have an even higher resolution screen than the Z3.
Ricciolo tweeted the following…
Forget the words of Sony exec, about 1080p only XPERIA screen.. 😉 Z4 or whatever is CALLED(!!!) 😉 ,will have TOP specs..SCREENRES included!

Which later Phone Arena managed to turn into a longer piece – in which they speculated that the phone will include a “Quad HD” display. Which despite shakey foundations, is fair speculation as “Quad HD” looks set to be the screen-resolution stop-gap between HD and 4K. See “Quad HD” isn’t 4x1080p HD, but 4×720. That’s 2560×1440 resolution. 4x1080p is known as 4K, and is probably still a few years away.
Given Sony’s release cycle seems to be set at every six months (the Z2 was only released in January), we can probably expect to see the Z4 at the CES show in Vegas in January.
