I don’t know about you, but when I think of Tesco, I think of a bronze-age fantasy world replete with relentless gory deaths. So it is opportune that Tesco’s Blinkbox on-demand video service has signed up series 4 of George RR Martin’s series long in advance of a DVD release.

Series 4 finished in the United States on Sunday night, and finished in the UK last night – and in a well timed announcement Tesco has revealed the series will be arriving on Blinkbox on June 17th – months before it’ll be available on disc.

That’s not all – apparently people who buy the series will be rewarded with 1000 Clubcard points and, umm, a 10″ Tesco Finest Pizza. Cross-promotion-tastic.

If you can’t wait until the 17th… well, you wouldn’t be the only ones. According to Torrent Freak, the series set a nice record for online piracy. It receiving over 1.5 million downloads in the first twelve hours after it was broadcast, which set the “swarm” record for 254,114 people sharing the episode simultaneously.

Now’s probably a bad time to admit I’ve never watched Game of Thrones, right? If I were better informed I’d be able to make references to “Hodor” or “Gandalf”, right?
