Dead or alive, you’re watching this trailer. Robocop, one of cinema’s most beloved action movies, is getting the remake treatment, with its first trailer released today following a string of worrying leaks from the set suggested it could well piss all over the memory of the original.
Considering the original flick was one of the most violent movies of all time, 2014’s RoboCop has a very “12a” sheen to it by the looks of this trailer. While I’m still skeptical about the whole thing (and the trailer’s tease of the gold-old fashioned RoboCop suit certainly making me want to scream “IT AIN’T BROKE! IT AIN’T BROKE!” at the screen), there’s a high-calibre cast assembled here that could push it beyond the usual remake doldrums.
Catch it in cinemas on February 7, 2014.
For comparison’s sake, here’s a trailer of the original. (Interesting fact – the trailer is using music from the original Terminator film. Ah, the heady days of the 80s.)
