Samsung-galaxy-s-ii-thumb.jpgSamsung have just revealed the latest sales figures for their Galaxy S II Android smartphone, and it makes for very encouraging reading. Their super-blower has racked up 3 million sales in just 55 days, or 1.5 phones sold every second. Not sure what you’d do with half a phone, but the figures speak for themselves!

It’s a record-breaking phone for Samsung, easily surpassing the sales of their previously fastest selling phone, the first Samsung Galaxy S. That took 85 days to reach the 3 million mark.

Samsung had planned to sell 10 million Galaxy S II handsets in 2011, but it seems they will sail past that figure with ease. In a summer without a new iPhone launch, it seems the timing was just right for Samsung’s dual-core power house.

New iPhone or not, Samsung’s Galaxy S II would still have impressed. The 1.2 GHz dual-core processor made it a slinky device, as fast as it was thin, while a 4.3 inch WVGA Super AMOLED screen was a joy to view.
