A holding page for the Xperia Arc, Sony Ericsson’s smartphone saviour, has popped up over on O2 revealing what appears to be the handset’s UK release date.

According to the page, the Android Gingerbread packing handset will be hitting UK stores in Apri.

After a rocky uptake of the Android platform, the Xperia Arc, first seen at CES in January, looks to show Sony Ericsson back on track in the smartphone stakes. With a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, impressive 8.1 MP camera and a sensibly subtle re-skinning of Google’s OS, the super-slim phone is looking like the most hotly-anticipated Xperia handset to date.
