lg-optimus-3d-phone.JPGLG could be planning to launch a 3D-capable smartphone at MWC 2011 in Barcelona next month.

An LG press invite for a MWC event we’ve just been sent holds the tagline “Into The New Dimension”. It certinaly is suggestive of 3D content; either that or LG are launching their smartphones into a black hole.

More evidence was also uncovered after a placeholder for a LG Optimus 3D handset was spotted on the Dutch arm of the Carphone Warehouse’s online store, only to be swiftly removed, according to All About Phones.

It’s not the first time we’ve caught wind of an LG 3D mobile, with plenty of chatter on the device going around at this month’s CES event. Rumour has it that LG’s planned 3D smartphone will be glasses-free, employing an autostereoscopic 3D display similar to the Nintendo 3DS.
