Here’s a stat to make Steve Jobs a little sweaty under that turtle-neck collar of his; over 300,000 Android phones are activated every day, meaning around nearly 10 million users are switching to Google’s mobile platform every month.
That’s compared to around 14.1 million iPhone activations over the course of the last quarter, meaning they are selling about half as well as Android phones currently.
The news came from Google’s Andy Rubin, who took to his Twitter feed to confirm the staggering numbers. It’s a 50% rise since the last public number crunch from Google CEO Eric Schmidt back in October, and should put to bed grumblings that Android handset sales were beginning to slow.
