Today sees the launch of a wealth of new 3D gaming content hit the PS3, just in time for the launch of Sony’s Bravia 3D TV range. However, not to be outdone, it seems that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 may soon be jumping onto the 3D bandwagon too.

Blitz Games’ Andrew Oliver has suggested that Microsoft are to deliver a big 3D announcement at the E3 games conference, due to start in a few days. “Microsoft are going to be making an announcement about it at some point soon,” Blitz’s Oliver told the Westminster eForum.

With the world’s biggest games conference just around the corner, E3 indeed seems the perfect platform on which to detail any 3D plans.

The majority of gamers are still treating 3D with a degree of scepticism, unsure what else it can bring to the game they love. Microsoft too at least seemed initially uninterested, with less vested interest in the format than Sony with their extensive home entertainment and cinema connections.
