Nokia C3 budget QWERTY smartphone announced

Nokia have announced the launch of the C3 at this morning’s Everyone Connect event. Featuring a full QWERTY keypad, it’s a Symbian S40-running budget smartphone.

Okay, so Symbian S40 isn’t the most exciting OS it could be running (it’s a bit like a watered down S60) but the price tag sure is enticing. Less than £80 will bag you this full QWERTY mobile, which Nokia hope will trump the INQ Chat 3G and Samsung Genio slide in the SMS messaging and social networking stakes.

Obviously a price like that comes with a few caveats; there is no 3G connectivity, a low res 2 megapixel camera and a low res 320×240 2.4 inch display. You’ll also have to fork out for a microSD card if you want to listen to your tunes, but at least a 3.5mm jack input means you wont need to pay extra for a bespoke pair of headphones. Wi-Fi is included for web browsing.

Expect to see some really cheap Pay As You Go tariffs for the Nokia C3 when it launches in the next few weeks.
