Nintendo: No Wii HD in 2010

In an interview conducted by GTTV, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has once again talked down rumours of an updated, HD enabled Wii being released next year.

Speaking out against predictions by analyst Michael Patcher of Wedbush Morgan, Fils-Aime stated that “Michael [Pachter] continues to be the only one who believes this is going to happen. I don’t know how forcefully we can say that there is no Wii HD.”

Though Fils-Aime may be giving the official company-line on the Wii HD, it is unlikely that there are no plans for an updated console in the near future. With Sony and Microsoft both preparing motion-controllers for the next year, Nintendo will need to make some changes if it is to keep up with its HD gaming competitors.
