Nintendo updating DSi with bigger screens

Japanese newspaper Nikkei is reporting that a new Nintendo DS model may be on its way.

Looking much like the recently released DSi, the new handheld looks to replace the console’s 3.25 inch screens with massive dual 4 inch screens. At roughly £125, the new model will be no more expensive than its smaller-screened sibling, though its arrival will still seem a tad cheeky for those who recently upgraded their consoles.

The article claims that the introduction of larger screens is to cater for older gamers, with the console being notorious for wooing demographics not usually associated with gaming.

Nintendo’s new bit of kit could hit Japanese shops as early as Christmas, but as yet there are no reports of the improved DSi hitting other territories.
