Someone mocked up a fake Zune Phone to keep themselves amused

Well, we’ve all got to find some way to keep ourselves busy over Christmas. One man spent December 23 to January 2 making this – a concept Zune phone design.

Unsurprisingly, it’s a total iPhone rip-off – full-face touch screen, curvaceous black design – it’s probably even got a shiny metal concept back and a little MS logo where the Apple is supposed to be.

The only interesting thing about this discovery is what Zune Scene has to say on the possible arrival of a zPhone – “We know little about the Zune 3 except that meetings have already begun involving the design team.”

So, somewhere inside Microsoft, is Zune head man J Allard wondering just how close he can get to ripping off iPhone without actually getting sued right at this very moment? Or would a Zune Phone encroach a little too much on Microsoft’s plans for Windows Mobile handset domination?

Or have we already got enough mobiles and MP3 players coming out of our bottoms and literally couldn’t give a toss about getting another variation on the theme?

  • Actually it turns out that this isn’t a mock up but the real deal. But really that’s not the point here this guy is obviously afraid to have his iPhone be second fiddle to anything MS. This is fanboyism at its best. Their are plenty of “iPhone rip off’s” yet I don’t see him mentioning them at all. And with Apple being a tight ass on what you can do with their phone’s I am sure that MS will let a much more user friendly device out to the market. And one that won’t drop as many calls or brick everytime a new firmware update comes out for it.

  • if this was real, i wouldn’t only buy it, i’d get other people to buy it. i put my money on the NEXT BEST REVOLUTIONARY PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY. the zune phone (to be released) will beat the crap out of anything “iPod”

  • Rip off or not, it looks much better than the iPod, shame it isn’t a real mok up. I would get this any day, it looks sweet.

  • I agree with FrnchDp, Whats with the Anti-MS attitude? Microsoft has the best chance of creating competition in the PMP and possibly the PMP-phone markets. Competition inspires innovation and lower prices for the consumers benefit. I say it with hesitation, but you(techdigest) appear like a collective apple fanboy. This comes from an iPod 60G owner. I support microsoft because I recently bought a zune 80 for its stellar audio quality thanks to eliminating the corrosive equalizer.

  • That’s not fair my friend. This mock-up was made some 17 year old kid back in November. You obviously didn’t care enough to read the thread that he made explaining what he was trying to do.. He could’ve put an Apple symbol instead of the Zune one and called it his concept iPhone G2, and there would’ve been no issue. There’s no need to use a kid’s imagination as your springboard to launch into your anti-MS rant. I’m sure you can find other ways to bash MS.

    Peace
