Sony introduces 80GB PlayStation3 console

Sony has announced the availability of a new PlayStation 3 console – but the 80GB machine seems destined for South Korea only so far.

The announcement came via Sony’s South Korean website, with the new machine set to launch in mid-June. Apart from a boost in storage by 20GB, there doesn’t seem to be anything else over and above the model shipped in Europe.

And just to highlight the rather creative pricing policy in different territories, the new PS3 with extra storage will ship for the equivalent of £281 – rather less than the European 60GB model
