LG BH100 hybrid HD DVD/Blu-ray player hits the UK – at a price

The launch of a joint HD DVD and Blu-ray player would surely be a space and money saving device? Well, it’s certainly going to be the former, but I’m not sure you could say the latter, with LG sticking a £1,000 price tag on its BH100 player.

Also known as the Super Multi Blue, it’s available in May in the UK. But you could buy a Toshiba HD DVD player and PS3 for the price – and still have plenty of cash to buy a few discs for playback. Buying both players will also give you access to the interactivity on your disc purchases too.

For your money, you do get less clutter, playback of both next-gen disc formats, along with standard DVDs – no music CD playback though. Expect to see it in major high street retailers, including John Lewis. One for early adopters only I think.
