Sharp’s press release only has a very brief and mysterious mention of its Blu-ray player that reads: “Sharp is demonstrating Blu-ray capabilities with a new product that will enter the market in the second quarter of spring 2007”. A couple of additonal sentences go on to mention the HDMi interface (it would be a bit useless without it) and that it can be connected to an AQUOS LCD HDTV (duh).

I may be wrong but I think the are talking about the DV-BP1, which is also due out in Q2 of this year. It supports resolution up to 1080p and will retail in the US for $1,199.99. I’ll have a sniff around on the show floor and try and grab a couple of pics – watch this space for more info.
