CES 2007: Recycled circuit-board bookmark

Share

green-bookmark.jpgCES proper doesn’t start until Monday morning, but the weekend is seeing a bunch of advance media previews and press conferences. We’re safely cocooned in the press centre, which has loads of laptops all running Windows Vista. Crumbs. Nothing’s crashed yet, mind *crosses fingers*

But onto the serious stuff. The Consumer Electronics Association is going big on ‘green electronics’ this year, and is launching a website called myGreenElectronics.org this week. Its aim is to educate consumers on responsible use, reuse and recycling of gadgets, including providing searchable lists of recyclers and eco-friendly gadgets.

By way of showing how this can work, there’s a press pack with a bookmark inside that’s been made out of circuit boards scavenged from old and/or broken PCs – the idea being to stop landfills filling up with this kind of stuff. It’s quite nifty, although it’d be even better if you could play Football Manager on it…
