Canon introduces new camcorder models to UK – DC230, DC201, MD160 and MD101

Canon has four new camcorder models due on the market – the DVD-recording DC230 and DC201 and two miniDV models – MD160 and MD101.

In broad terms, each is very similar, with a joystick controller for easier shooting with one hand and a quick start button on the higher-end models, so you are ready to capture a clip rapidly out of standby. There’s also still image shooting on the DC230 and DC201, while the DC230 also records to SD card.

The DC230 and the MD160 feature 35x optical zoom and Electronic Image Stabiliser to cut down on the effects of that shaky hand, while the DC201 and MD101 offer 30x zoom.

Expect to see the miniDV models from February, the DC201 around mid March and the DC230 in early April. Prices still to be confirmed.
