Asus is about to launch two notebook PCs aimed specifically at gamers.

There’s a choice of optical highlighting – either green or red – and come with first-person shooter-friendly keyboard markings.

The G1 sports a 15.4 inch widescreen with an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7700 with 512MB of video RAM, whilst the G2 is a 17 inch widescreen with AMD ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 with 512MB of video RAM.

They both come with a choice of Intel Core 2 Duo processors connected to a mobile Intel 945PM Express chipset, and can take up to 2GB of DDRII 667MHz RAM.

Both models have an integrated 1.3 megapixel web camera, and there’s also an OLED information panel above the keyboard which can alert the user of new email and other application alerts. There’s also built-in wireless capability (802.11a/b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0 as an option.

Asus employs its Power4 Gear+ power management which it claims will extend battery life by up to 20-25%.

And as if that’s not enough, Asus will even throw in a backpack and a Logitech MX-518 gaming mouse.

No UK pricing details as yet, but it should be available from late November.
