Creative have launched their Live! Cam Voice webcam which has a dual microphone with Adaptive Array Microphone technology and a 1.3 megapixel ‘intelligent autofocus’ lens.
Now I must take issue with their claim that theirs is the first webcam to offer these features, as Apple’s iSight features dual microphones, background noise elimination, and autofocus, but I’ll let it pass.
“When you pass time keeping in touch with mates online or, dare I say it, looking for romance, picture and voice clarity are pretty important”, said Eion Leyden, Creative’s European Business Manager. “We’ve designed this webcam to appeal to net addicts but we also offer a range of products at differing price points to suit our customers who don’t spend quite so much time online”.
- brushed metal and grey, compact curved design
- on/off light
- 1.3 megapixel wide angle lens
- Intelligent auto exposure and white balance
- Adaptive Array Microphone technology
- Smart Face Tracking (it follows you)
- 5 megapixel (interpolated) still pictures
- Skype certified
Whether or not it’s the first at what it does, it comes at a pretty smart price: £79.99 and is well-featured. Though it doesn’t say in the specs I read, I am presuming it’s a USB 2 device.
