Admittedly, the World Cup is still going strong, but it’s not that long until we get back to the "bread and butter" football of the Premiership. And according to HDTV UK, Sky is certainly making the most of its new HD service, broadcasting 138 matches in high-definition.

And if that’s not enough, they’ll also be extending coverage outside the Prem – with matches from the Coca-Cola League, Carling Cup and selected UEFA Champions League fixtures on Sky HD. The first Premiership match will be Sheffield Utd vs Liverpool on August 19th, with every club being seen live by mid-October.
