Dell has launched its fastest consumer notebook, which it’s aiming at mobile gamers – the XPS M1710.

The XPS M1710 is powered by Intel Core Duo processors, NVIDIA 512 MB GeForce Go 7900 GTX graphics technology, with a 120GB hard disk and up to 4GB of memory. Dell reckons the notebook allows you to play 3D games at high settings while simultaneously performing intensive tasks such as downloading music or running a virus scan, without any compromise on performance.

The XPS M1710 also packs the multimedia features. Dell has increased the brightness of its 17-inch widescreen UXGA display by 30 percent to enhance clarity for games, photos and movies. It also comes with MediaDirect buttons for fast access to digital content, plus there’s the Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 operating system and an optional TV tuner.

Its design is certainly an eye-catcher too – a metallic black and arctic silver design. To further customise the look, each XPS M1710 notebook features an illuminated XPS touchpad and three independently user-configurable lighting areas with exclusive 16-colour XPS accent lighting.

If you want one, it’s available now, with prices starting at around £1500 including VAT and delivery.
