Nyxem virus fails to bite

We did warn of the possible damage of the Nyxem virus last week. However, so far today, its day of activation, there’s hasn’t been the havoc many analysts expected.

The Nyxem-E bug, which was believed to have infected thousands of computers worldwide, was programmed to delete Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel files, plus other common documents on infected machines on 3rd February and the 3rd of every month after. However, with all the publicity surrounding the virus, it seems that PC users made an effort to clean up their machines with anti-virus software, which limited the impact.

Anyone still worried about whether or not they have got the virus can remove it with a free download from anti-virus company Symantec.
