CES 2006: Altec Lansing takes the iPod speaker system outdoors

Must admit to being heartily sick of seeing speaker systems for the iPod, but at least the iM9 from Altec Lansing has a bit of a twist. It is designed for outdoor types and to prove the point AL has kited out the model with shock resistant rubberised casing and made it splash proof. The speaker/recharge system is pretty much the same as most of its rivals, except that it boasts a video output -handy for video iPods – and it comes with its own rucksack style carry case. It goes on sale in the US in March for $199. There’s no news on a UK launch but AL are normally pretty quick at shipping things to Europe so we should see it by the summer.
