Samsung joins the PVP market

Personal video players

Apparently not so at ease with all the
mystery and speculation that Apple thrives on, Samsung had the YH-J70 on the
cards for some time and it has now hit UK
shelves. This is a hard disk
based, 20GB PVP boasting a design that looks refreshingly less gimmicky than
most. The device supports MP3, WMA and OGG audio, MPEG4 video, JPEG images and there
is an integrated FM tuner. To celebrate the successful birth of a new product
in the enormously competitive personal media player market, Samsung has now
announced that a new white version will be launched shortly, it is also blessed
with a 30GB capacity making it a lot more sensible for storing movies. The
black, 20GB YH-J70 should retail for around £219 according to Samsung, but it’s
definitely worth looking around for a better deal than that. No official details
of price or stockists is available for the 30GB white version yet, but I’m
going to guess around £240…
