Yet another top AV manufacturer has added iPod connectivity and controls to its products. This time it is Denon, makers of those wonderful D series mini systems, which has just unveiled the Smart Life S-101 DVD home cinema system. The twist is that in addition to the usual round up of facilities – flat speakers 100 watt subwoofer, progressive scan DVD player – the model can also charge and control an iPod. You simply use the dock connector and it will then conjure up a virtual iPod interface on your TV screen. Clever stuff. A more advanced version, the S-301, is also on the cards and that adds top-end DVD facilities like DVS-A and SACD playback and HDMI and USB inputs to the mix. The S-101 is out now for £850.
