Twentieth Century Fox takes sides in format war

It was starting to become difficult to keep
track of the Blu-Ray versus HD-DVD skirmishes, with each side scoring small
hits of one another every once in a while and with no definite conclusion in
sight. Last week, however, came news
that might turn the odds heavily in Blu-Rays favour: film maker Twentieth
Century Fox has publicised its plans to produce Blu-Ray format titles
consisting of TV programs, films, etc. Admittedly this announcement was not a
huge surprise since Fox has been on the Blu-Ray board for almost a year but
that now improves the list of big companies supporting the Blu-Ray format which
already included Apple and Sony’s PS3. Here’s hoping for a swift conclusion to
another potentially messy format war.
