It’s easy to get cynical about the high number of mobiles that now incorporate an MP3 player in a half-arsed way. But it looks as if we could have a pleasant surprise soon, with the announcement of Sony Ericsson W550 camera phone. This neat looking tri-band phone features a 1.3 mega-pixel camera with 4x digital zoom, a gaming console, an MP3 player, two stereo speakers and a 176 x 220, 262k colour screen. The phone has 256MB of internal memory for holding songs and on a full charge can keep playing for a considerable 30 hours, apparently.

The phone can also be tilted sideways to play handheld games, with
titles such as Wormforts: Undersiege and a new version of the classic
Gauntlet on the way. The phone comes with all the normal features of
current generation phones: GPRS, bluetooth and a USB connector to
connect to your PC.

The W550 will be available in the UK around November. No word on pricing yet though.

You can find oodles more on this phone on Camera Phone Zone, hosted by the living room.
