We’re still not entirely sure what to call these portable video devices. Personal video player? Portable Media Player? Portable Media Centre (PMC – microsoft’s preferred name)? Whatever, iriver has decided to call its Linux-based devices PMP120 and PMP140. The players have just been launched over in the UK with recommended retail prices of £399 for the 20GB PMP120 and £499 for the 40GB PMP140 model.

Features include a 262K-colours, 3.5-inch screen, a Linux-based operating system, and support for MP3, ASF, WMA and WAV, AVI in MPEG4, DivX and XviD audio and video file formats. As well as watching filmes, listening to music, viewing pictures and all the usual stuff you can do on these devices, the iriver PMPs also come with an FM radio tuner, which is a nice little extra.
