Wurlitzer goes digital

Gibson Audio – of guitar fame – has taken the old fashioned vinyl jukebox and dragged it kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Though it resembles a prop from a fifties American diner, the Wurlitzer Digital is equipped with a CD player and a hard disk with space for over 1000 albums.

Available in two sizes, the jukebox can be used in a wired/wireless system via an Ethernet conenction and features software for downloading music directly to its hard disk.

Annoyingly there’s no LCD on the device though it is accompanied by an intelligjnt remote control that connects to the web to display track listings/cover art etc.

The floorstanding Jukebox will retail for around $2000, with a table top version selling for $1000. Both are due in early summer. Apparently if they sell well in the US we can expect to see them in the UK for the end of the year.
