What? Hasn't the OS X versus Windows debate died out yet?

'fraid not, and it's not likely to either.

So, without further ado, here are ten superb reasons why you should switch to Mac OS X.

1. Manage your windows better

expose-desktop.png

No, not that Windows (though it's worth noting that you can still run Windows applications on a Mac with the right bit of software).

One of the biggest headaches on any computer desktop is the number of application windows you have to manage all the time.

Sure, there's a minimise feature and you can always close windows you no longer need, but Mac OS X has some very elegant ways of managing the clutter of multiple windows with just a few keystrokes.

There's Exposé which shows you all the windows you have open and lets you switch easily between them (you can even drag and drop items between windows this way) or alternatively clears everything out of the way so you can see the desktop behind.

Combine this with Spaces which lets you have multiple virtual desktops and you have a very slick window management system that makes it easier to accomplish tasks rather than wrestling with windows.

Sure, Windows can do some of this, but not as well.

The Nintendo Wii is an insanely popular gaming console, but there's always room for improvement, right?

Here are 10 bits of kit Nintendo could add to the Wii console to make it even more versatile - ranging from the fairly sensible to the downright weird.

1. Bluetooth Headset

OK, so this one is pretty sensible, and you'd think would be fairly easy for Nintendo to create and market.

I know there's the Wii Speak, but perhaps you'd like to have a more private conversation with someone about subjects more personal than Animal Crossing.

2. WiiPhone

A few years ago we didn't think Apple would venture into the mobile phone market, but it happened.

Nintendo has denied that it will ever get into telephony, but it wouldn't be hard to hook up a telephone interface to the Wii and use the controller to dial your numbers.

After all, it's likely that not everyone you want to talk to has a Wii, and it's just so much effort to pick up the real phone when you're constantly attached to the Wii.

We've been waiting for the Nokia N97 for quite some time now, and hopefully we shouldn't have to wait much longer.

Made up your mind? The Nokia 97 is available today via Dial-a-Phone.

Here are 10 reasons why you should consider buying Nokia's latest smartphone.

Usually the Sunday Times Rich List makes me green with envy at how much money the rich are making. Not so this year. The Top 1000 have lost 37 per cent of their wealth, down by an astonishing £155 billion between them - now that's a lot.

Yet for tech companies it's not all bad news. Eight of the top 100 rich kids under 30 made their money from tech and some of the fastest growing fortunes are online, including Natalie Massenet (pictured) who is the force behind Netaporter.com. Founders of internet gambling, price comparison websites and certain etailers feature particularly highly this year, in many cases because of fairly hefty valuations on their businesses.

Here's a list of the tech-related folk from this year's Sunday Times Rich List.

On April 1st, the infamous Conficker worm will unveil the full extent of its power. The virus, which has squirrelled away inside something like 15 million PCs, will 'activate' by receiving instructions from a mysterious central server.

It could spam, begin DDOS attacks, or just access all your files for identity theft purposes. But those are boring. Let's have a look at what else it could do. Click the picture below to begin.

It's Saint Patrick's Day, and although that probably has some great significance to many, in my experience it's mainly an annual excuse for people to drink heavily and wear green.

But that doesn't mean you have to forget about tech for the day - no siree! Before you go out to celebrate one of Ireland's patron saints, be prepared for anything with our top 10 drinking gadgets! We've scoured the web for the most inventive, unusual, fun and simply baffling devices to help the day go off with a bang.

The red carpet was awash with make-up, jewelry and false modesty in small hours of this morning as a large troop of Britons waltzed into LA to pick up most of the important Academy Awards. So, on a day like today, it seems appropriate to look back through the history at those honoured with Hollywood's highest accolade and line up the top 10 greatest Oscar winners of all time - well, the tech version anyway.

10.) 11001 Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

The tragic and and uplifting story of a small time criminal who feigns insanity to escape sentence but ends up changing the lives of the inmates of a mental asylum forever - with binary!

9.) Krazor vs Krazor (1979)

A heart-wrenching courtroom drama where the bosses of a large and once great mobile phone manufacturing company fight to keep hold of their last remaining handset.

twitter-bird.jpgSo it is official, Brits absolutely love the microblogging (no, I don't know what that means either) service Twitter. According to online trend watchers Hitwise UK, internet traffic to Twitter has increased 10-fold over last 12 months.

UK Internet traffic to the website has increased by a staggering 974% over this period. Hitwise also admits that Twitter is probably even more popular than its numbers imply, as Hitwise is only measuring traffic to the main Twitter website, not access via mobile (it's big on the iPhone, I can tell you) or third party applications like Twitterrific and Tweetdeck.

So why is this? It is obvious why Twitter is growing on the other side of The Pond:

1. The Yanks invented it
2. Culturally, Americans are not afraid of sharing their plans, achievements and disappointments.
3. They have just had their May 1st 1997 - a one time moment of political optimism which is made for sharing over 140 characters.

But why then do we Brits love it so much? Well here are the results of our scientific survey of an office full of Twitter devotees:

wow-valentines.jpgIf you don't play World of Warcraft, or a similar MMORPG, then you might not want to read this. You're going to think it's immensely 'sad'. But there's actually a lot of fun to be had playing World of Warcraft with a significant other, especially if circumstances mean that you're unable to be in the same place on the special day.

Of course, World of Warcraft holds its own "Love is in the Air" event, but we're not just going to limit ourselves to that, oh no. There's a whole world to see, so we'll pick out some of the nicest spots.

top-ten-tuesday.jpgThe launch of the very tasty Toshiba TG01 has got me thinking. What is it I'm after in the perfect phone? Well, what with the choice of handsets these days being about more than having polyphonic ringtones, and section 2 subcategory B of Sod's Law stating that you can't have everything, I thought it might be a good time to prioritise, especially with MWC 2009 just around the corner.

So, here we go then. The Tech Digest top 10 features to look for in a mobile phone as according to me and with all the subjectivity and bias I can muster. In reverse order...

Come on. How was I going to let today's Top 10 Tuesday pass without theming it President Elect Barack Obama style? Now, I was considering a top 10 ways of how to follow it all but I've a feeling it'd be damn near impossible to avoid it. So, instead I've gone straight to the point and to the most important part of the ceremony, the part where the real difference is made - the merchandising.

Yes, what better way to celebrate the spirit of capitalism in the land of the free than by bringing you the Top 10 Barack Obama Novelty Gadgets? So, without further ado, here indeed is the Tech Digest Top 10 Barack Obama Novelty Gadgets.

Welcome to Top 10 Tuesday's Best Christmas Gadgets. I know it's Wednesday but I forgot to post this yesterday and I couldn't sit on a red hot feature like this for another six days.

So, a little unconventionally is TD's TTT of all the best kit to make the festive period as brilliant and ludicrously techie as it can possibly be. Click on the image below to begin.

top-ten-tuesday.jpgThe computer mouse is 40 years old. Mine isn't, it's more like one, but the original concept prototype as built in 1968 by Doug Engelbart and his team from the Stanford Research Institute in California certainly is.

Sadly, Doug never struck it rich. His patent ran out just before Apple popularised the little gizmos but he did receive the National Medal of Technology from Bill Clinton. Not sure how much they're worth and I'd imagine Steve Jobs has probably got 12 of his own but one thing that the Apple dictator is without is his own inspired Top 10 Tuesday. So in honour of Doug, his team and all the little guys out there, I bring you the Tech Digest Top 10 Best Mice Ever.

If ever there were person who loved their gadgets, it would be James Bond. And, with the cinema release of the Quantum of Solace a few weeks back, it seemed appropriate, no, it seemed a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours to compile a top ten Bond gadgets of all time.

The only trouble is that in my absence, this post I lovingly put together was overlooked and lay untouched and lost like a whopping nugget of gold in the depths of the Earth. Worse still, I got back to find that Duncan had put together his top five Bond gadgets instead, which did not in any way agree with my feelings on best of Q division.

Thankfully, this weekend saw the opening of the Quantum of Solace in North America and it'll be premiering down under any minute now, so I'd say it was still topical.

So after pouring through the last 22 films and years of childhood memories, it's my great pleasure to indeed bring you the official Tech Digest Top 10 James Bond gadgets of all time. Click the image below to begin

P.S. The 22 Bond films mentioned include Never Say Never Again but not the original Casino Royale, just in case there was any confusion.
