Okay, so maybe we got ahead of ourselves last October, but it really does seem now that Twitter’s video product should be launching soon.

According to The Drum, users will be able to upload videos of up to ten minutes in length – and it will support MP4 and MOV uploads. Only paid up Twitter advertisers will be able to upload adverts, though.

The reason behind the move is pretty clear: Twitter and its shareholders are bricking it over slowing growth and lack of revenues – if video can help Twitter get more eyeballs on its pages for longer, it is a win for the company. It also means people won’t click off to YouTube and get sucked into a YouTube vortex.

It isn’t immediately clear when the service will launch, but we’ll keep you posted.
