The Nintendo DS has sold over 10 million units, making it the best selling games console in UK history.
If the figures collated by Gfk Chart-Track are accurate, it means that one in six Brits now own a DS. On sale for less than five years, the dual and touch screen handheld has surpassed the sales record previously set by the PS2 in nearly half the time.
Games like Dr Kawashima's Brain Training and 100 Classic Book Collection helped expand the reach of the console beyond traditional audiences, while there was still a whole load of excellent traditional titles such as New Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for gaming veterans to pick up and play.
