With all the advances being made in the field of robotics, it's a little difficult at first to understand why InterRobot, Inc would develop a robot whose only function seems to be to hand tissues to passerby. However, the robot can always keep a smile on its face, never complains that its feet hurt and, according to the website, is capable of gathering information about the people it encounters on the job. On the down side, rental fees are 100,000 yen (about $835) for 5 days, so don't get rid of your handkerchiefs just yet.
