Blackberry has started rolling out some interesting new features on BBM – making a move to ape snapchat, and also let you recall messages sent in error.

If you’ve ever sent a message to the wrong person, you know how awkward it can be – so if you’re a BBM user you could be in luck as the new message retraction feature will let you delete a sent message, if you can get to it before the person you’ve sent it to receives it.

Similarly, with the latest update there will be “timed messages” – which work exactly like Snapchat, whereby you can specify how long it will be before your message expires – and you’ll also get warned if the person at the other end takes a screenshot.

Blackberry is also adding in higher quality imagery: When you receive a photo, if you’d like a higher quality version you can hit a button and request it – and it will download a better one. Stickers too will apparently be more easily accessible.

Interestingly, you’ll also be able to now see what music your contacts are listening to – and iPhone users will be able to press on the song and be taken to iTunes immediately to download it themselves.

Perhaps most intriguingly is Blackberry’s plans for how the new features will work: Apparently they will be free for the next three months, but after that you’ll have to pay a subscription fee to Blackberry to get access to them.
