With Smash Bros WiiU due at the end of the year, there’s a big question hanging over it: what will be the best way to control it? Nintendo might have just answered that question.

Smash Bros purists, even in the era of the original Wii, often thought that Nintendo’s old Gamecube controller was best. For the original Wii this wasn’t a problem – the console had four Gamecube controller ports built into it… but what about the port-less WiiU? Earlier on, Nintendo of America tweeted this image:

The adapter is a small unit that takes four Gamecube controllers, and plugs into the WiiU’s two front-facing USB ports (yes, it requires both slots) – and will allow you to pick up where you left off with Smash Bros Brawl.

There’s no word yet on when it will be released commercially – but we’ll let you know.
