Can you fit an operating system in 25mb? PiCore thinks you can.

An operating system has been released aimed as Raspberry Pi users. PiCore has all but the bare necessities stripped out and is only 24.7mb.

The OS, which is based on Linux, really does work though – but don’t expect to get much done. According to Liliputing it doesn’t come with a web browser or a file manager. All it comes with a terminal emulator to get you started. By comparison, a typical 64-bit Windows 8 install requires around 20GB of hard disk space.

The idea is to run the whole thing in a computer’s RAM – so there’s no need to actually install it. Just hope there’s not a powercut, I guess, or you lose your whole computer.
