motorola-defy+.jpgThe Motorola Defy+ has been given a September UK street date. The rugged handset is the follow up to last year’s Defy, and looks set to go head-to-head with Samsung’s Galaxy XCover tough smartphone.

Announced alongside the news that Motorola were jumping into bed with Google, the Defy+ features IP67 certification, meaning it is water resistant, scratch resistant, and dust proof.

A 3.7 inch high-res Corning Gorilla glass touchscreen display is your portal into the phone’s Android Gingerbread goodness, while under the hood sits a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera and 2GB of storage.

The Defy+ will also come pre-loaded with a fitness app called CardioTrainer, letting you plan and track the effectiveness of workout routines.

“Motorola DEFY+, our latest life proof smartphone, delivers the endurance and design strength to keep up with even the most demanding lifestyles, along with the social and entertainment capabilities that put friends and fun in easy reach,” said Victoria McManus, UK marketing director, Motorola Mobility.

“We designed Motorola DEFY+ with all the smartphone features you need for a demanding lifestyle.”

No word yet on which network providers will carry the handset, but we’ll keep you posted as the announcements trickle in.
