The Google search engine gets another new addition today in the shape of the “+1” button.
Showing Google to be on the pulse when it comes to the growing importance of crowd-sourced data, the button sits alongside each advert or search result from the engine. Clicking the button shows that you found a particular link or advert relevant, and will push similar search results higher up your lists in the future.
The +1 button is also linked to your Google account and network of Google friends. Any links or ads they “+1” will show up in your search results too, as well as the pal’s name who reccomended it. The idea is that we’re more likely to trust a link if it has a friend’s seal of approval first.
The feature seems so far to only be available to US users, though a worldwide rollout is expected should it prove to be a success.
