Sonim XP1300 Black.jpgAre you about to get your Ray Mears on and go on an epic trek around the world’s most extreme terrain? Or perhaps just a browse around a particularly chaotic Primark? If either of those sounds remotely up your alley, you may want to think about getting your hands on a mobile phone designed for use in harsh environments, and they don’t come more rugged than Sonim’s new XP1300 Core handset.

The highest spec IP68 phone available, the phone can be submerged 2 metres underwater without doing it any damage, withstand 2 metre drops onto concrete and is protected for 30 minutes against heavy rain, fog and salt air.

Extra strong Gorilla Glass is used in the screen, whilst the Sonim is also ready to take on harsh temperatures ranging from -20°C to +55°C . A resilient dual injected shell of hardened rubber and fibreglass houses the inner workings of the mobile, while battery life is good for 18 hours talk time or 800 hours standby.

You’ll also get video and mp3 playback from the handset.

Shipping to the UK in the next few weeks, you’ll be able to pick up a Sonim XP1300 Core phone for around £250.
