Samsung launch portable BD-C8000 Blu-ray player with 3D smarts

Need a high-def fix on the go? If so, US readers should give Samsung’s new BD-C8000 portable Blu-ray player a look.

Playing back Full HD 1080p video on its 10.3 inch screen, it also features a built in wireless connection for accessing Samsung’s DLNA and widget apps and 1GB of storage space. The rechargeable battery should be good for 3 hours worth of playback, more than enough time to get through your average movie.

Though the built in screen is only 2D compatible, hook the BD-C8000 Blu-ray player up to a 3D screen via a HDMI 1.4a connection and it’ll also playback 3D Blu-rays.

At $499.99 (circa £320) it’s a relatively affordable bit of kit considering its 3D capabilities and tiny, travel-friendly size.

No word on a UK release yet, but we’ll keep you posted if it pops up on our shores.
