Samsung Wave S5800.jpgIn preparation for the launch of the AMOLED Samsung Wave smartphone, Samsung’s Apps store is said to have “more than tripled in size”.

The first handset to flaunt the new bada operating system, Samsung hope the bolstered app store and flood of new apps will complement the release of the new platform.

“Launching the application store has enabled Samsung to increase smartphone sales, while at the same time add value for our existing customer base,” said Samsung’s Kanghyun Kwon. “Samsung Apps allows users to discover new apps, which are consistently making our smartphones more useful, productive and entertaining.”

“In the future, we will continue to offer apps perfectly optimized for our smartphones, and introduce new devices to fit all lifestyles.”

It’s good to see Samsung attempting to boost their app store ahead of the launch of such a high-profile handset launch as that of the Wave. It’s a smart looking phone, but as Apple’s App Store has shown, a smartphone lives or dies based upon the quality of the apps available for it.
