Twitter Land has been going wild this weekend with Google employees waxing lyrical about the new Google handsets they’ve been lucky enough to get their hands on. One Google employee’s friend went so far as to tweet “its like an iPhone on beautifying steroids!”.
So what details on the handset have we been able to gather from all these enthusiastic tweeters? It seems the handset is very similar to the recently leaked HTC Bravo handset, and is likely a build upon that phone. It’s got a 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor, runs Android 2.1, has a 3.7 inch OLED screen and a 5 MP camera.
Will we see the Nexus One anytime soon in the UK? Well, Google certainly seem keen to test it out across the globe. Just take a look at what Mario Queiroz, Google’s vice president of product management, wrote on the Google Mobile blog: “We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe.”
Who knows what the Nexus One will be called if it ever reaches our shores, but so far all the evidence suggests we’ll be seeing it sooner rather than later.
