We’ve known that Sony have a PS3 motion controller in the works since last years E3. But as yet, Sony has remained tight-lipped as to what the project is going to be called.
However, EA Games boss John Riccitello may have spoilt the surprise, letting slip what appears to be the controllers name whilst speaking at the UBS 37th Annual Global Media Conference.
“In the coming year, both Sony and Microsoft have announced new controllers. Motion sensor controls, Natal and Gem, these are likely to bring new consumers into the marketplace,” he said.
We’re all aware of Microsoft’s Natal controller, but “Gem”? Said in the same breath as “Sony” and “motion sensor controls”? It seems pretty clear what he’s referring to here.
Sure it may just be an inconsequential slip of the tongue, a codename or even just an acronym of a codename. Of course Sony have instantly denied any official name yet, but still, if there is anyone out there who knows what the PS3 motion controller is called, you can put money on one of them being Riccitello.
